La scoperta a Betlemme delle più antiche canne d'organo dell'Occidente cristiano, oggi conservate a Gerusalemme, e lo studio che verrà condotto all’interno del progetto Jerus-it Arts con la masterclass dei giorni 25, 26 e 27 marzo, obbligano a soffermarsi sullo stato delle attuali ricerche e sperimentazioni in materia di ricostruzione di organi medievali. È anche l'occasione per mettere in luce lo stato dei nuovi repertori musicali per organi medioevalitra il XII e il XV secolo (positivi, portativi e grandi organi) e per dare nuovi impulsi in materia di pratiche improvvisate.
La masterclass è dedicata a studenti medievisti ma anche a organisti professionisti che desiderino scoprire e approfondire la musica medievale in relazione all’uso dell’organo nelle sue diverse declinazioni. Per la masterclass il costruttore di organi Walther Chinaglia mette a disposizione la ricostruzione dell’organo della Bibbia di Stefano Harding (XII sec.) e la copia dell’organo positivo del dipinto di Hugo Van der Goes, 1480 (portrait of Sir Edward Bounil). Saranno messi a disposizione dei partecipanti anche alcune copie di organetti portativi trecenteschi. La masterclass di Christophe Designer si articola in momenti teorici e pratici (prattica del alternatim, improvvisazione sul canto piano, interpretazione dei repertori per tastiera (Robertsbridge, Codex Faenza, Buxheimerorgelbuch... ).____________________________
The discovery in Bethlehem of the oldest organ pipes in the Christian West, now preserved in Jerusalem, and the study that will be conducted as part of the Jerus-it Arts project with the masterclass on 25, 26 and 27 March, compel us to reflect on the state of current research and experimentation in the field of medieval organ reconstruction. It is also an opportunity to highlight the state of new musical repertoires for medieval organs between the 12th and 15th centuries (positive, portable and large organs) and to give new impetus to improvisational practices. The masterclass is dedicated to medieval students but also to professional organists who wish to discover and deepen their knowledge of medieval music in relation to the use of the organ in its various forms. For the masterclass, organ builder Walther Chinaglia is providing a reconstruction of Stefano Harding's Bible organ (12th century) and a copy of the positive organ from Hugo Van der Goes' painting, 1480 (portrait of Sir Edward Bounil). Copies of 14th-century portable organs will also be made available to participants. Christophe Designer's masterclass is divided into theoretical and practical sessions (alternatim practice, improvisation on plainchant, interpretation of keyboard repertoires (Robertsbridge, Codex Faenza, Buxheimerorgelbuch... ).
