TrombaYigal Meltzer joined the Israel Philharmonic in 1991, becoming Principal Trumpet in 2001. He studied in New York with leading trumpeters Philip Smith, former Principal Trumpeter of the New York Philharmonic, and James Pandolfi of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. He has appeared as soloist with the Israel Philharmonic in Israel and on concert tours overseas under the baton of conductors including Zubin Mehta, George Pehlivanian, Kazushi Ono and Mendy Rodan. He has also made solo appearances with leading orchestras in Israe, among them the Israel Chamber Orchestra, the Israel Camerata Jerusalem, the Tel Aviv Soloists, the Be’er Sheva Chamber Orchestra and the modern music ensemble Musica Nova, and has recorded several solo recitals for Israeli Radio. Yigal Meltzer is a member of the Israel Philharmonic Brass Octet and the Israel Philharmonic Brass Quintet. He Gives regular master classes in Israel, Europe, USA, South America and Australia and is on the faculty of the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music, Tel Aviv University.
