FagottoPrincipal Bassoonist Soloist of the Orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia from 1984 to 2023, Francesco Bossone collaborated in the same role with Maestro Claudio Abbado in the Lucerna Festival Orchestra and in the Mozart Orchestra, with the Human Rights Orchestra, with the Chamber Orchestra of Mantua with the Philharmonic Orchestra della Scala with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and with Maestro Lorin Maazel and the Symphonica Toscanini. He graduated very young from the Santa Cecilia Conservatory with honors under the guidance of Marco Costantini and won numerous national and international competitions (I Pomeriggi Musicali di Milano; Orchestra Regionale Toscana; Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia; Royal Philharmonic Orchestra). He carries out an intense concert activity in every part of the world, both as an appreciated soloist and in important chamber ensembles.
In 1990 he took part in the concert that the New York Philharmonic Orchestra organized at Carnegie Hall in New York in memory of Leonard Bernstein. He performs Haydn's Sinfonia Concertante in the symphonic season of Santa Cecilia with Maestro Carlo Maria Giulini, on the occasion of his eightieth birthday. Invited by Daniele Gatti to fill the role of Principal Bassoonist at the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London, from 1996 to 1998 he created prestigious concert and record productions at the Royal Albert Hall, the Barbican Center and the BBC Proms in London.
With the Mantova Chamber Orchestra he has performed numerous solo concerts, performing the Concerto for Bassoon and Orchestra K191 and the Sinfonia Concertante by W. A. Mozart, the Suite Concertino for Bassoon and Orchestra by E. Wolf-Ferrari, the Sinfonia Concertante by Haydn. In February 2004 he performed as a soloist Carl Maria von Weber's Concerto for Bassoon and Orchestra op. 75 as part of the 2003/2004 Symphony Season of the Orchestra of the National Academy of Santa Cecilia conducted by Myung-Whun Chung. In September 2004 another solo participation in the K Festival produced by the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, where he performed, with the Cecilian orchestra conducted by Thomas Netopil, the concert by W. A. Mozart for Bassoon and Orchestra K 191. His repertoire for solo bassoon and orchestra is vast, including concertos by J. C. Bach, Boismortier, Danzi, Françaix, Jolivet, Kozeluh, Hummel, W. A. Mozart, Muthel, Rossini, Rolla, Stamitz, Vivaldi, J. C. Vogel, Carl Maria von Weber etc… He has collaborated with the most important conductors and, in chamber ensembles, with internationally renowned artists such as Antonio Pappano, Michele Campanella, Uto Ughi, Salvatore Accardo, Franco Petracchi, Massimo Quarta, Antony Pay, Giuliano Carmignola, Andrea Lucchesini, Alexander Lonquich, Enrico Dindo, Heinz Holliger , Leonidas Kavakos, Isabelle Faust, Raphael Christ, Sabine Meyer, Jacques Zoon, Alois Posch, Reinhold Friedric, Wolfram Christ and others.
His teaching activity sees him engaged in numerous courses and masterclasses. From 1997 to 2000 he was Teacher for Wind Instruments at the Training Course of the Youth Orchestra of the National Academy of Santa Cecilia. He was Professor of the Annual Advanced Bassoon Course at the National Academy of Santa Cecilia (2002/2022)He is professor of the bassoon chair at the N. Sala Conservatory of Benevento.
