Bastrombonist Brandt Attema performs as a soloist, in chambermusic and in orchestras all over the world. He is a steady member of the Netherlands Wind Ensemble, Slide Monsters -a Quartett that connects Classical and Jazz music-, the New Trombone Collective and the first Basstrombone-harp duo worldwide with harpist Astrid Haring. He was a member of the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra from 1999 till 2019 and since 2019 he is the trombone professor at the Hochschule für Musik in Karlsruhe. As a freelance musician, he plays in many international orchestras and ensembles.
Brandt has a great interest in extending the repertoire for bass- and contrabasstrombone. He invites composers to write new repertoire, borrow repertoire from other instruments to perform on his basses, adds his instruments to unexpected combinations and inspires his students to discover their own possibilities on their trombones.
